Baltic
Nations
The Baltic Nations – Lithuania, Latvia and
Estonia – have rich histories, highly educated populations and
modern businesses that are diverse and competitive. They can
boast of stable financial markets, and their populations are
skilled linguists.
Having emerged from domination during the Cold War period with
their national and cultural identities firmly intact, they hit
the ground running with plans for rebuilding and restructuring
their economies for the 21st century. With an eye toward
strategic, political and economic security, they set their
sights on joining NATO and the European Union. They soon
achieved these goals, attaining full membership in both bodies.
With this, the Baltic peoples have demonstrated their penchant
for partnership and alliance. Eager and open to trade with the
West, the Baltic Nations are fertile grounds for collaborative
ventures.
